After a decade at Tottenham Hotspur, where he was labeled a non-factor, Eric Dier is starting to attract interest from the Saudis.
Mohammed Al-Qaoud, the BBC’s Arab news correspondent, reported exclusively on Wednesday (Aug. 13) that Saudi Pro League side Al Nasr are the newest club to show interest in Eric Dier.
Dyer did not feature in Tottenham’s opening Premier League game of the 2023/24 season as the club began a new era under manager Enze Postecoglou.
New defender Micky van der Vaan made an impressive debut, Christian Romero scored the opening goal, and Davinson Sanchez, who came on in Romero’s absence, didn’t do as badly as expected, further narrowing Dyer’s position.
Speaking about Dyer’s situation in the post-match press conference, Postecoglou said, “Dyer is part of our team. We were missing some players today. We left some good players on the bench today. We need a strong squad. We need a strong squad, not just 11 players.”
“Dyer is in the same boat as the other players, he’s working hard in training and he can be picked at any time. My choice is to pick the one that gives us the best chance to win any game.”
Dyer, who joined Spurs in 2014 and is entering his 10th year with the club, has played 361 games for the club. He has made 270 appearances in the Premier League.
However, Dier had one of the worst lapses in concentration last season, contributing significantly to Spurs’ shaky finish. Especially when playing alongside Davinson Sanchez, both players conceded goals themselves with poor defending. His lapses in concentration led to many of the goals he conceded, and his confidence plummeted.
After 33 Premier League appearances in the 2022/23 season, Dyer seems to have completely lost his place under new manager Postecoglou.
