Son Heung-min (Tottenham) is showing his captain’s grace.
After being handed the captain’s armband by Hugo Llorente, Son was asked if he would be willing to step into the role of striker for the team in place of the recently ineffective Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and he was quick to defend him, saying that there was no need to replace him.
Tottenham boss Postecoglou has been touted as a possible replacement for Harry Kane, who has since moved to German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
However, while he has worked hard in his two games this season, he hasn’t found the back of the net. He scored just three goals in all competitions last season, and only one in league play.
When asked about his place in the lineup and how he plans to replace him, Son said, “Every player is doing his job as instructed.”
“Honestly, I think I can play left, right, center, any position. But I think he’s done a really good job.” The implication is that he won’t replace him as a striker.
Some English media and pundits have argued that he’s not good enough to replace Kane and that the team should look elsewhere. However, Son Heung-min has given him a boost.
In the first two games of the season, he had a bit of a slow start. However, it seems premature to start looking for a replacement already, as the goals could come as soon as he gets comfortable in his current position. 메이저놀이터
