“My prime is coming soon,” says Dyer, ‘muttering to himself + frowning’ as he returns to the training ground… and so does ‘old man’ GK Yoris with a ‘serious face’

Tottenham’s “love child” Eric Dier, 29, and Hugo Lloris, 36, were spotted at training.

Football Daily, a Twitter channel for soccer news, released a photo of Tottenham’s training center on Thursday (Aug. 24). Dier and Yoris were spotted at Tottenham’s training center.

Both players have serious expressions on their faces. Yoris has a dark look on his face as he puts on his goalkeeper’s gloves and heads to the goal. Dier follows suit, frowning and muttering to himself as he walks off the field. Coach Enze Postecoglou is not happy to see the two players. He has a serious look on his face and is writing something on a piece of paper.

Dier and Yoris were once Tottenham’s mainstays, but now they’re just waiting to be released. They’re also completely out of Postecoglou’s plans. They were left out of the roster for both the opening and second rounds of the English Premier League (EPL) last season.

Dyer has played 361 games for Tottenham in nine seasons between 2014 and now. He’s been a mainstay defender every season, but things changed last season. His sloppy defense and mistakes at crucial moments angered fans. Spurs then planned to sell Dyer, who has one year left on his contract, to another team.

In the first and second rounds of the EPL, Postecoglou went with a center-back combination of Cristian Romero and Mickey Vanderven, a £43 million acquisition. In the previous game against United, Dyer didn’t even make the bench and watched from the stands alongside former Tottenham player Dele Alli.

Dyer, who was vice-captain at Spurs, was also left out of the newly announced squad for this season. Joris also lost the captain’s armband to Son Heung-min. Some had expected Dier, who was vice-captain last season, to wear the captain’s armband, but Postecoglou opted for Son Heung-min. The vice-captaincy went to ‘new boy’ James Maddison and first-choice center back Cristian Romero. Dier surprised fans by unfollowing Tottenham’s official account shortly before the announcement of the new squad. He later re-followed the account, but fans speculated that he was unhappy about not being included in the squad.

Tottenham want to sell Dier and bring in Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham. Fulham are also interested in swapping Dyer for Adarabioyo. According to the UK’s Daily Mail, “Fossekoglu has made it clear that Dyer is not part of his plans. Instead, he is looking to bring in Adarabioyo before the transfer window closes.”

“I’m 29 years old and I believe I’m in my prime,” Dier recently told the British publication, “Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele, who I played with at Tottenham in the past, also reached their peak in their early 30s. I’m looking forward to the fact that my prime is coming,” he said.

“I don’t care about the criticism,” he said. If I don’t look at social media, they don’t exist in my mind. I only care about my family, my coach, and my teammates.”

The situation for veteran goalkeeper Yoris is even worse. Yoris is currently Tottenham’s longest-serving player, having played 11 seasons for the club since 2012, making a whopping 447 appearances. But now he’s on the fringes of Tottenham’s roster, handing over the starting job to new signing Guglielmo Vicario this season and waiting for a move. It’s like a ‘last man standing’ waiting to be transferred.

Yoris was originally linked with a move to Italian Serie A side Lazio. He even missed Tottenham’s Asia tour to finalize the deal. However, he recently rejected the move, leaving his relationship with Tottenham ambiguous. Fabrice Hawkins of French outlet RMC Sport wrote on his social media page on July 23 that “Yoris will not move to Lazio despite the club’s courtship”. Yoris is reportedly planning to make another move in the upcoming summer transfer window. 먹튀검증
