With the score tied 3-3 in the bottom of the ninth, Lee Jin-young hit a two-run double off LG closer Ko Woo-seok. Hanwha’s Noh Si-hwan hit his 30th home run of the season, setting a new club record for home runs against a former club.

Kim Bum-soo, who came on in the eighth inning with the score tied 3-3, pitched a scoreless inning, and Park Sang-won, who pitched a scoreless ninth, earned the save.

Hanwha scores first
Hanwha got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Noh Si-hwan hit a double off the bottom of the left-center field fence. It sailed into the deepest part of Jamsil Stadium’s outfield and was not a home run. Noh remains the only player this season without a home run against LG. With two outs, Chae Eun-sung grounded out to the second baseman to end the threat.
In the second inning, Kim Tae-yeon led off with a single to left-center. Choi In-ho hit a hard grounder to the third baseman. The runner on first advanced to second. Jang Jin-hyuk hit a Kim Yun-sik’s curveball on the side of the infield, past the second baseman’s glove and into the outfield.

Hanwha led off the third inning with a single to left-center field. Jung Eun-won tried to steal second, but was tagged out. It was a late start. One out later, Jung Eun-won singled to right. Lee Jin-young flied out to right field, and Noh Si-hwan grounded out to third.
In the fourth inning, Hanwha’s leadoff batter, Chae Eun-sung, drew a walk. Kim Tae-yeon hit a grounder to the third baseman on a three-ball one-strike play to load the bases. Choi In-ho struck out to end the inning.
LG fails to capitalize on comeback chances
LG got on the board in the first inning when Hong Chang-ki led off with a single up the middle. Shin Min-jae tried to lay down a bunt, but the ball was high and the first baseman made the catch. Kim Hyun-soo flied out to center field and Austin grounded out to third base.
The second inning ended with a triple play. In the third inning, Moon Sung-ju grounded out to shortstop and Park Hae-min grounded out to third. Two batters later, Hong Chang-ki singled to left for a multi-hit game.
Shin Min-jae hit a bound ball on a two-ball to left that escaped the third baseman to put runners on second and third. Kim Hyun-soo couldn’t capitalize on the opportunity as he grounded out to the first baseman on a full count.
Noh’s 30th homer of the season, against his former club
Hanwha broke through in the sixth inning. Lee Jin-young led off with a single to left against reliever Yoo Young-chan. Noh took advantage of Yoo’s fastball and smashed a two-run home run over the left field fence. His 30th home run of the season. Set a new career home run record against his former club. 3-0.
Chae Eun-sung hits a ground ball, fired to shortstop Oh Ji-hwan. Kim Tae-yeon laid down a sacrifice bunt, but Park Dong-won, the catcher, was safe at second. With runners on first and second, Choi In-ho failed to lay down a bunt and flied out to center field. Jang Jin-hyuk flied out to center fielder.
With runners on first and second, Moon Hyun-bin, pinch-hitting, singled up the middle. Second baseman Chae Eun-sung singled to center, and first baseman Kim Tae-yeon advanced to third. Center fielder Park Hae-min threw to third, not home, and third baseman Moon Bo-kyung was tagged out.
The run was disallowed as Kim Tae-yeon was tagged out before Chae Eun-sung could cross home plate. Han Hwa requested a video review, but the inning ended with no runs scored.
Sanchez pitches well, strikes out three to end the inning
After getting out of the third inning, Hanwha starter Sanchez retired the LG bats in order in the fourth. He got Austin to fly out to right, Moon to strike out Bo-Kyung, and Oh to ground out to second.
The fifth inning was also a triple play. He struck out Park Dong-won and Park Hae-min to retire the side. Sanchez threw 83 pitches through the fifth inning, striking out five.
Sanchez got Hong Chang-ki to ground out to second base in the sixth and Shin Min-jae to ground out to shortstop in the seventh. Kim Hyun-soo struck out the side with a 149-kilometer fastball in the seventh.

Park Hae-min hit a fastball over the right field fence for a tying three-run homer. Jang Si-hwan’s slider (134 kilometers) was a muffed pitch that went just high enough. Park threw his hands up in the air as soon as he hit it, confident that it was a home run.
With the score tied at 3-3, Hanwha switched pitchers to Kim Bum-soo. Kim walked Hong Chang-ki and Shin Min-jae. He gave up a single to right to Kim Hyun-soo, and then swung at a three-pitch one-ball with Austin at the plate for a strikeout.
Austin ran to first base, and the pitcher rushed to catch it and throw to first, but the runner was faster, and the bat struck catcher Choi Jae-hoon in the head and arm. The umpires conferred and called Austin out.
The umpires explained, “After Austin swung, he was hit by the catcher’s helmet, so he was out for defensive interference.” LG coach Yeom Kyung-yeop came out and appealed, but was told it was defensive interference.
Go Woo-seok collapsed. Lee Jin-young hits a two-run double
In the top of the ninth inning, with the score tied 3-3, LG brought in closer Ko Woo-seok. The first batter, Lee Won-seok, singled to left. Jang Jin-hyuk attempted a sacrifice bunt, but was thrown out by the pitcher. Choi Jae-hoon singled to center field, putting runners on first and second.

LG removed Go Woo-seok and replaced him with Lee Woo-chan. Lee struck out Chae Eun-sung with the bases loaded.

“Lee Jin-young’s RBI single in the ninth inning (with the bases loaded) was also decisive, and above all, we were able to win because the players did not give up and stayed focused even after conceding the tying run.”
