‘Six goals in four games’ earns Son Heung-min Premier League Player of the Month for September

After scoring six goals in the month of September, Son Heung-min (Tottenham) has been named the English Premier League’s Player of the Month for the fourth time in his career.

The Premier League announced on its official website on Sept. 13 that Son was named Player of the Month for September.

This is the first time in nearly three years that Son has won the award, having previously won it in September 2016, April 2017, and October 2020.

Son Heung-min joins the ranks of Premier League legends

Player of the Month winners were determined by a combination of fan voting on the EPL’s official website and expert votes.

Son was up against Julian Alvarez (2 goals, 2 assists in 4 games), Jarrod Boyne (3 goals in 4 games), Pedro Neto (1 goal, 3 assists in 4 games), Mohamed Salah (2 goals, 2 assists in 4 games), Kieran Trippier (4 assists in 4 games), and Ollie Watkins (4 goals, 1 assist in 4 games) for the September award.

However, Son had more offensive points than any of them. He exploded for six goals in four league games in September.

In the fourth round against Burnley, he scored the goal of the season and a hat trick. After catching his breath against Sheffield Wednesday in the fifth round, Son scored a multi-goal performance against Arsenal in the North London derby. A week later, he added another goal against powerhouse Liverpool to move into second place in the Premier League scoring charts. 스포츠토토

In truth, Tottenham’s predictions for the season were unfulfilled. The team entered the new season with a major loss of power after losing star striker Harry Kane this summer, and the appointment of an untested manager in Enzi Postecoglou was also a concern. However, Tottenham transformed into an unbeaten team, rallying around their new captain, Son Heung-min.

Postecoglou has turned the team around with his dynamic attacking style of play, and Son has been the ace in the hole for Tottenham, leading them to an unbeaten run. With six wins and two draws after eight rounds, Tottenham have overtaken Arsenal atop the league standings.

With four career Player of the Month honors, Son joins the ranks of Premier League legends such as Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, and Frank Lampard.

Only six players in Premier League history have won more Player of the Month awards than Son. Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane have won the award seven times each.
