Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Lee Kang-In has been a standout performer for the South Korean national team, and his club, PSG, is expected to welcome him back.
Lee started the South Korean national team’s exhibition match against Vietnam at the Suwon World Cup Stadium on Sept. 17 and helped the team to a 6-0 victory. Lee assisted on a corner kick for Kim Min-jae’s opening goal, and then added a second in the 25th minute when he received a pass from Son Heung-min and fired a sharp left-footed shot into the corner of the Vietnamese goal.
Lee, who had already recorded his A-Match debut and multi-goal performance with two goals against Tunisia, has now amassed four attacking points with three goals and one assist in October’s A-Matches alone.
Despite his success with the national team, Lee has recently been linked with a move to La Liga amid concerns over his future at PSG. Spanish media outlet Pichajes reported on the possibility of a return to La Liga, stating that “a La Liga club wants to sign Lee Kang-in.”
Pichajes said, “Lee Kang-in, who is synonymous with Spanish soccer, has once again attracted the attention of a La Liga club. This time, it’s Real Sociedad. They are seriously considering the possibility of signing the talented attacking midfielder,” said Pichajes.
“Lee has only just joined PSG, but there are rumors that a return to Spain could be closer than expected. The club sees him as a valuable future asset. His performances on the field and versatility could make him stand out. However, PSG have invested heavily in the player and will need to make a convincing offer,” said the source.
However, the chances of a deal happening don’t seem high. There are reports that PSG would love to have Lee after his performances with the national team. 메이저놀이터
French media outlet Foot Mercato reported the news of Lee’s return to PSG on Sept. 19 (KST), calling it an “impressive comeback”.
“After not being at PSG for more than a month, Lee had one of his best performances in the last match for the Taeguk Warriors. It’s a good sign for PSG. Lee has been in good form since arriving in Paris. What’s more, his PSG debut was very satisfying and pleased many fans. Bought relatively cheaply from Mallorca, the South Korean dynamo has perfectly fulfilled his role as a high-quality replacement in Luis Enrique’s squad. However, he had to leave for his home country for the Asian Games in mid-September.”
“At the Asian Games, even after his gold medal, he was unable to find success on an individual level. He then joined the Korean national team for the A-match in October, and Lee Kang-in shined. Lee scored two goals against Tunisia and was outstanding. He continued his performance in the second game against Vietnam, scoring a goal and adding an assist.” The media was impressed with Lee’s performance for the national team.
The media outlet emphasized that this is also good news for PSG. “His return could help a lot for PSG, who have little confidence in their team at the moment,” said Foot Mercato, adding that it’s also good news for PSG, who have had some shaky performances recently.
Fans also reacted to the news, welcoming Lee back to PSG with enthusiasm. “I’ve been waiting for him to come back to make Dembele sit on the bench,” “Dembele needs some work on the bench,” and “I can’t wait to see what he can do when he gets playing time at PSG. He could start in place of a starter in a weekend league game ahead of this week’s UEFA Champions League match against AC Milan,” among other comments.
It will be interesting to see how well Lee performs upon his return to PSG, as his nervousness about competing for a starting spot has been replaced with excitement after his international breakthrough.
