South Korean badminton team Seo Seung-jae (26, Samsung Life) and Chae Yoo-jung (28, Incheon International Airport) came from behind to reach the quarterfinals.
On Tuesday (Nov. 20), the pair won their mixed doubles quarterfinal match at the Denmark Open 2023 in Odense, Denmark. The tournament is part of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour 750 Series.
World No. 4 Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jung pulled off a thrilling come-from-behind 2-1 (22-24, 21-19, 22-20) victory over eighth-ranked France’s Tom Zickel-Delfin Deloux.
Seo Seung Jae and Chae Yoo Jung dropped the first game 22-24 after a deuce tiebreak. In the second game, they were down 9-18 and facing defeat. However, they fought back to tie the game at 19-19 before taking it 21-19.
In the third game, they were facing match point at 19-20, but they managed to save three points to end the 74-minute battle.
Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jung were crowned mixed doubles champions at the 2023 World Badminton Championships in Copenhagen in August and followed that up with a 2-0 (21-19, 21-12) victory over Tom Zickel and Delfin Delou in the China Open final. 메이저사이트
However, at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games this month, the pair had to settle for bronze after falling to world No. 1 Zheng Zhiwei and Huang Yaqiong of China. Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yu-jung will face Zheng Zhiwei and Huang Yaqiong again in the quarterfinals.
They have a 2-10 head-to-head record. They have beaten them twice before, at the World Championships and China Open in August this year.
